Foundry Manufacturing Product Quality
Product quality is an ongoing process in the EJIW foundry operations. Continuous testing occurs during the entire production process insuring high quality products. EJIW utilizes the most modern molding equipment and technology. The sand mix used in the molding centers is repeatedly checked for proper formulation. The melt lab monitors the physical properties of the iron including brinell hardness and tensile strength. Chemical analysis of the iron is performed using an ARL Spectrometer. Metallurgists and skilled laboratory technicians guarantee that EJIW produces castings of the highest quality. Additionally, all castings are checked visually and randomly gauged as they move through the finishing room. These quality assurance procedures and controls help insure we deliver superior castings to all of our customers.
CMM Lab
New patterns and castings go through a rigorous pre-production process before EJIW initiates a full-scale production run. EJIW’s quality lab operates a DEA-Brown & Sharpe Coordinate Measuring Machine in an environmentally controlled room. The CMM consists of a base machine and software package that perform quick, precise sequential measurements of a multitude of characteristics. The individual castings are dimensionally checked against their master pattern for shrinkage, flatness and perpendicularity. The measurements are accurately collected and documented. The data is then used to make necessary adjustments to the pattern. The DEA is extremely versatile and is capable of handling our largest construction castings.
