What is LEED®?
LEED® is an internationally recognized green building certification system providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
The LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings.
EJIW and LEED® Certification
EJIW's highly trained Sales and Marketing team stands ready to assist you in earning LEED® credits for your next project. A majority of EJIW products earn LEED credits under the Materials and Resource category and Recycled Materials section within the ratings guide. However, opportunities exist elsewhere within the ratings framework for credits to be earned. EJIW is willing to help identify LEED credit opportunities available for your projects.
East Jordan Iron Works, Inc. castings are manufactured entirely in the United States of America from gray iron conforming to ASTM A48 or ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536. The material used to produce the castings has a minimum recycled content of 85%. The 85% recycled content is made up of approximately 20% post consumer and 80% post industrial materials.
For LEED® certification purposes this equates to 17% post consumer and 68% post industrial recycled materials content (17% + 68% = 85%).
Upon request, EJIW will provide 500 mile radius maps for our three manufacturing locations (East Jordan, MI, Ardmore, OK and Youngstown, OH).
