East Jordan Iron Works offers many styles of construction castings specifically designed for Airports, Port Authorities and other installations which undergo exessive load conditions. Extra heavy duty construction castings include round or square manhole frames and covers, catch basins, drainage inlets and trench grates. In addition EJIW covers can be furnished with custom lettering, in most languages, to meet your distinct specifications.

The Product Engineering Department reviews each Airport or Port Authority inquiry/order. Load bearing requirements and design criteria are evaluated to assure that the appropriate construction castings are submitted for customer engineering approval. Proof load testing is performed on all construction castings; test data and material certification can be furnished upon request.

All extra heavy duty construction castings are manufactured with gray iron conforming to ASTM A48 Class 35B gray and ductile iron conforming to ASTM A536. Ductile iron combines the advantages of gray iron with greater strength, toughness, higher impact resistance and increased durability without additional weight. Because it has the ability to withstand greater loads without failure, it is often specified for extra-heavy load applications.
